Playback is a new platform, so you will need to inform your audience and help them get setup! You should post to your social channels 24+ hours ahead of the event if possible. Be sure to update your room’s Community Profile before promoting your room!

  1. Share your room link (”playback.tv/yourcommunity”) and briefly describe the Playback experience. You can use terms like “watch/stream live with _____”

NOTE: Doing this in the form of a short video that can be posted to socials is very effective!

  2. Ask users to create a Playback account after clicking your room link. Creating a Playback account is free!

  3. Let users know they can watch NBA games with you by connecting their NBA League Pass account.

  4. Encourage users to download the mobile apps for iOS/Android and turn on notifications. This way they know when your room goes live!

Hosting with Consistency

If your audience has an expectation of when and where to find you, they will show up! Regular hosting leads to room growth as well as strong retention. It will of course be up to your schedule, but we find that rooms that host multiple times per month have stronger room performance. To increase how often your room is active, you can recruit cohosts/moderators to host events when you’re unable to.

Hosting Different Types of Events

You can do more on Playback than watch live games with your community. Whether you’re reacting to breaking news, watching highlights, or simply chatting - your Playback room is the hub for your community to experience all things sports. Don’t be afraid to try something new, the connected YouTube and Screensharing apps make the possibilities endless!
